Nigeria’s under-17 national team, Golden Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba has picked January 3, 2019 as resumption date for his squad.
Heading into the 2019 African U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania, Garba told sports247.ng that he had long ago submitted his programme to the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Garba stated that he picked a day after the New Year as the tentative date for his players to return to camp after a long break which stretched back to the team’s outing in the zonal qualifiers.
He further told sports247.ng there would still be room for new players to make the team, as he wants to continue building a crack squad.
The UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning coach added: “We are ready to receive new players when we resume camp in January, because no one is yet sure of the making the final team.
“We have to prepare properly in order to win the African title, hence the need for the players to work their way back into a competitive camp.”
