Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba has spoken out boldly to downplay the role former handler of the side, Emmanuel Amuneke will play against his team at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
Amuneke, who coached Nigeria’s Eaglets to win Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup is now in charge of Tanzania’s senior national team and supervisor of the youth squad, but Manu told sports247.ng that he is not worried about the role that his former assistant will play at next year’s U-17 AFCON.
Manu was speaking on the backdrop of Nigeria being grouped alongside the hosts, Tanzania, Angola and Uganda for the competition next year, but insists he is not bothered with the outcome of the draws.
Manu stressed: “We know they have Emmanuel Amuneke in the capacity of a consultant to their various national teams, but we will not worry about him in Tanzania. We are not going there to play against Amuneke.
“For me, we are focusing on all the teams we will play against. The objective for the team is to simply beat all comers on our way to achieving a ticket to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.”
