In a recent display of gratitude and commitment to their alma mater, the managers and coaches from the Professional Class of 2024 at the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Lagos State have generously donated an LCD screen to the institute.
This gesture is aimed at enhancing the institute’s visibility and fostering a sense of pride among the NIS community.
Azeez Abass Michael, the Chair of the Project Committee for the outgoing alumni, shared insights with Sports247 about the motivation and experiences that led to this donation.
Michael described their time at NIS as transformative. The students not only developed new skills and learned from exceptional coaches but also built lasting relationships.
However, one notable observation during their tenure was the outdated exterior signage of the institute, which lacked visibility, particularly at night. This realization inspired them to contribute positively to the institute’s visual identity.

The primary aim of this donation is to enhance the institute’s image and create a sense of pride among students, staff, and alumni. The alumni envision several benefits from this initiative:
Increased Visibility and Recognition: The LCD screen will make the NIS more visible and recognizable.
Elevated School Spirit and Community Pride: The screen is expected to boost morale and pride within the NIS community.
Inspiration for Students: Both current and prospective students will find motivation and a sense of belonging.
A Lasting Legacy: This initiative aims to leave a positive and enduring legacy for future generations.
Michael elaborated on the practical benefits of their donation:
Quick and Easy Access: The LCD screen will provide quick and easy access to information about the institute.
Encouragement for Prospective Students: It will serve as a reminder for potential students to consider NIS in their educational pursuits.
Increased Awareness: Many people who were unaware of NIS’s presence at the National Stadium, Surulere will become informed.
This thoughtful contribution by the Professional Class of 2024 shows their commitment to supporting the growth and development of the National Institute for Sports, ensuring its continued prominence in the sporting community.
