Plateau United of Jos’ new coach, Abdul Maikaba has ruled out any cash inducement in the chain of events that took him to The Tin City from Akwa United of Uyo.
With Maikaba haven seen to have gained ground at Akwa United and leading The Promise Keepers to higher points on the domestic scene, observers are of a view that he only dumped the south-south club because Plateau United offer him more money.
However, Maikaba told sports247.ng that money was not the motivating factor for him and debunked claims making the rounds that he opted for the Jos club’s appointment to cash in with the former NPFL champions.
Maikaba stressed: “I did not move to Plateau United because of the money, it was because I wanted to be somewhere close to my family.
“It’s true that I will get a good salary in Jos, but the fact still remains that I wanted to be where I could easily meet with my wife and kids.
“Being closer to my family was the rationale that prompted me to move away from Akwa United to join Plateau United.”
