Maduka Okoye Links Up With Watford

Maduka Okoye was one of the new faces in Watford’s training ground on Monday. The Hornets have posted images on their social media pages of Okoye stepping inside the club’s building as players return for pre-season.

The Vicarage Road outfit signed the Nigerian international goalkeeper in November of last year, but he spent the rest of the season on loan at Sparta Rotterdam. He signed on a five-and-a-half year contract.

“I’m overwhelmed to sign for Watford. I can’t wait to get started with the team in the upcoming 22/23 season,” he said.

Okoye will work under Robert Edwards at Watford. The 22-year-old will be aiming to be the club’s new number one in the new Championship campaign following the departure of former first choice Ben Foster. The 2022/22 campaign gets under way on Saturday, July 30.

The Hornets will find out who they meet in that opening game when the fixtures are announced this Thursday morning.
