Flying Eagles captain Ikouwem Udoh is on the verge of joining Israeli club Maccabi Haifa from seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba FC.
Despite interest from Tunisian clubs, Esperance du Sportivo and Etoile du Sahel, the Nigerian International looks set to sign for the 12-time Israeli Champions.
The left-back who has been capped once by the Super Eagles in a 1-0 win over Egypt in March missed the game between the Nigeria U20 side and Freiburg U19’s which ended in a 3-3 draw because he went for medicals at Maccabi Haifa.
Although no agreement has been reached between both clubs, it is believed a deal will soon materialize between Enyimba and Maccabi Haifa.
The Flying Eagles are camped in Ingolstadt in Germany ahead of the 2019 FIFA U20 world cup in Poland and Udoh is expected to feature when Nigeria face Saudi Arabia next week Wednesday.
The 19-year- old was part of Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles side that finished second at the African Nations Championship in Morocco in 2008.
