In its quest for footballing excellence, the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has announced the establishment of its Female Football Development Committee, aimed at empowering women in football. This landmark initiative seeks to promote gender equality and foster growth in the sport.
To kick off its initiatives, the committee will host a mentorship and training program on August 10th, 2024. According to the LSFA, this program will provide a platform for female players, coaches, and referees to develop their skills, share experiences, and connect with industry professionals.
The one-day event is slated to be held at the prestigious Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, from 9 am to 5 pm. It will include a mini-tournament for girls aged 9-18, as well as training sessions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities. All activities are focused on promoting gender equality and growth in football.
“We are committed to creating opportunities for women and girls to succeed in football,” said Mrs. Raliat Anako Abdulsalam, Chairperson of the Female Football Development Committee. “This program is just the beginning of our efforts to foster a supportive community and promote female participation in the sport. Join us as we take the first step towards a brighter future for women in football.”
With this initiative, the LSFA aims to build a strong foundation for female football in Lagos, encouraging more women to engage with the sport at all levels. The association believes that through such programs, they can inspire the next generation of female football stars and create a more inclusive environment within the football community.
As anticipation builds for the August event, the LSFA invites all stakeholders, including aspiring players, coaches, referees, and fans, to be part of this groundbreaking moment in Lagos football history.
