Organizers have advised coaches, players, and fans to shun violence and embrace peace in the ongoing Lokia Synergy Cup taking place at Akinbo football pitch, Akute, Ogun State.
The tourney which kicked off a month ago has reached the quarter-final stage. 32 teams are taking part in the competition.
Chairman Organising Committee, Oluwafemi Joseph told our correspondent that he was not particularly happy with the way some coaches behave on and off the football pitch. He said most of the coaches lack discipline which affects their performance in the ongoing Lokia Synergy Cup.
“I think our coaches should not take this competition as a do or die affair, I observed that many of them are not disciplined. Coaches should comport themselves in such a way that people would respect them. Our coaches should be humbled and be professional in their conduct,” he said.
Joseph said the competition has lived up to expectations in terms of standard of play by participating teams but urged the football fans and players not to take the law into their hands. He said fans or player should channel their complaints to the disciplinary committee instead of taking the law into their hands.
“ I understand that Nigerians are passionate about football but we should not forget that there are some rules that guide our conduct. We should not behave irrationally especially when the match is in progress,” he said
Meanwhile, two teams are already in the semi-final stage. They are Working FC and Solution FC. In the quarter-final pairing released by organizers, Akinbo United face Sunshine Pro, while Bethel FC tackle Oregun FA. On 19th, October 2021
