The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman, Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka (Sir Zulu), has assured that Nigeria is ready to host a world-class 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship, tagged ‘Abuja 2025’.

Speaking during the official inauguration of the LOC at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, he reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to delivering an exceptional tournament that will leave a lasting legacy.
Addressing committee members, dignitaries, and sports stakeholders, Hon. Adeyinka emphasized the vision of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR) to transform and revitalize Nigerian sports, particularly by strengthening grassroots development.
He stated that the committee’s mission extends beyond just organizing the event but also aligns with the broader goal of fostering a sustainable sports ecosystem in Nigeria.
“Today marks the beginning of a journey that we will undertake together as a unified team. Our work will be marked by collaboration, creativity, and, most importantly, a deep sense of service to our nation,” he declared.
The LOC Chairman outlined the critical areas of focus, including logistics coordination, budgeting, volunteer management, security, hospitality, and overall event execution. He urged committee members to bring their expertise and passion to ensure Abuja 2025 meets and exceeds international standards.
“Every detail matters. But I have full confidence in the talent and dedication of this team. Together, we will rise to the occasion and deliver a championship that Africa will be proud of,” he added.
He further stressed that the committee’s work goes beyond just the event, as the impact will resonate long after the championship.
“We are laying the foundation for something bigger than ourselves, and that is a responsibility we must approach with integrity and diligence,” he concluded.
The event had in attendance top sports officials and dignitaries, including representatives from the National Sports Commission (NSC),
Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, and key government agencies. With the LOC now fully inaugurated, the countdown to Africa’s biggest armwrestling showdown in Abuja has officially begun.
