Adeyinka, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasized that Nigeria must present only its finest athletes at the African Championship, which the country is set to host and aims to dominate.
“All athletes coming to the National Open Championship in Ibadan must put in their very best. Nigeria is not going to present anything short of excellence because the African Championship is not just about hosting—it’s about winning. We must show that we are the powerhouse of armwrestling on the continent,” Adeyinka stated.

He further revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given full support to the upcoming 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship in Abuja, stressing that the country cannot afford to disappoint.
“The President believes in this sport and has provided the necessary backing for its success. Now, it is up to us—athletes, officials, and stakeholders—to deliver and make the nation proud,” he added.
The championship, scheduled for March 8, 2025, will serve as the official selection event for athletes representing Nigeria at the African Armwrestling Championship in Abuja. It promises to be a fierce competition as the best armwrestlers from across the nation battle for a chance to wear the national colors.
