Lobi Stars Lost To Wydad Due To Poor Ref – Ujah

Lobi Stars of Makurdi media officer, Emmanuel Ujah has blamed his side’s 1-0 loss on Saturday to Wydad Casablanca of Morroco in the CAF Champions League on poor refereeing, sports247.ng reports.

Ujah alleged that the ref, Jean Jacques Ndala from DR Congo allowed Wydad several excesses in the game and awarded what he called two fishy penalties, one of which was scored, and urged Confederation of African Football (CAF) to appoint better officials for the second leg.

While setting his sight on Lobi turning the tide during the reverse fixture in Casablanca on February 12, Ujah charged CAF to pay more attention to the quality of officiating in the continent’s elite clubs’ competition.

Ujah insists officiating had affected the course of Saturday’s game at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, and raised eyebrows over the winning goal scored by Mohammed Nahiri from the penalty spot.

Ujah moaned that it led to a first loss for the Nigerian champions in this year’s competition, but enthused that his side will get their desired result with better refereeing in the second leg.

The Middle Belt club’s spokesman said: “The centre referee lost control of the game, as he allowed the Moroccans dictate the pace of the game.

“Moreover, the second penalty was questionable. CAF should be more responsive to its duties to protect the integrity of the competition.

“Wydad is well known for their confrontational attitude. We all saw what happened when they played Sundowns in South Africa.”
