The duo was notably excluded from the squad for the Naija Super 8 pre-season tournament held in Lagos.
During Lobi Stars’ disappointing performance at the Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs in Lagos, Ani failed to find the back of the net. Alalade, on the other hand, had a brief appearance in the championship playoff.
With the recent acquisitions of David Okoromi from Niger Tornadoes and Charles Chubuike from Doma United, both Alalade and Ani’s positions within the team, known as the Pride of Benue, could be in jeopardy. The newly appointed Lobi Stars coach, Bala Abubakar, appears eager to work with the fresh recruits at the club.
Interestingly, Abubakar is set to bring along six players from his former club, further solidifying the potential changes within the Lobi Stars squad.
The uncertain future of Alalade and Ani might see them seeking new opportunities elsewhere, as their exclusion from the Naija Super 8 tournament hints at their diminishing importance within the team. While both players have shown their capabilities in the past, the arrival of promising new talents has potentially pushed them down the pecking order.
As developments continue to unfold, it remains to be seen how the situation will progress for the duo. Their departure would mark a significant change for Lobi Stars, who are undergoing a transitional phase under their new coach.
