Heads of Nigeria and South Africa Professional football leagues are two of the seven members appointed by the CAF President, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad into an Adhoc Committee for the establishment of a CAF Interclubs calendar for the transition season of 2018/19.
Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) and NFF 2nd Vice President, Shehu Dikko and his counterpart from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) of South Africa are the only heads of league organising bodies in Africa appointed into the committee which has been scheduled to have its first meeting in Rabat, Morocco on November 3.
Other members of the committee include CAF Executive Committee members led by 3rd Vice President Fouzi Lekjaa, Tarek Bouchmaoul who is the Chairman of the CAF organizing Committee for Inter-Clubs Competitions and management of club licensing and Ahmed Yehia, the Vice Chairman of the Inter-Clubs Commitee. Others are the CAF Deputy General Secretary, Anthony Baffoe and Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu.
The Committee is expected to among others establish the fixtures of the interclubs competitions for the transitional 2018/19 season scheduled to commence November 2018.
Dikko, is also is a member of the CAF Organizing Committee for inter-Clubs Competitions as well as FIFA Football Stakeholders Commitee.
This latest appointment further underlined the growing influence and recognition of Nigeria within the global football circles since the Election of NFF President Amaju Pinnick into CAF.
