Like Paris, Like Lima’ Nigeria Ends 2024 World U20 Athletics Championship Empty Handed

Just like it was at the Paris 2024 summer Olympics, Nigeria finished her campaign at the 2024 World U20 Athletics championship with no medal as the relay teams crashed out of their respective events on Friday, (29 August), Sports247 reports.

Nigeria completed her series of dismal performances on day four of the competition in Lima with the failure of the 4 × 400 m women relay team, 4 × 100m men and the Women team failed to get past their respective heats on Friday.

The men’s 4x100m team quartet of Caleb Joshua, Oseiwe Salami, Caleb John, and Chidera Ezeakor came 3rd in their heat in a Seasons Best (SB) of 40.28s, but failed the automatic qualifying spot for the final as only the first and second qualified for the final, while the returned fell short of the best two losing times.

The women’s 4x100m quartet of Justina Eyakpobeyan, Prestina Ochonogor, Favour Onyah and Precious Nzeakor got disqualified for late Baton exchange after finishing 5th with an identical time of 45.55s shared with Italy and Brazil.

The women’s 4x400m team pulled out of the race at the 2024 World U20 Athletics.

Though the competition will come to an end of Saturday , 31 August 2024, Nigeria Campaign has come to an end on Friday as the country has exited all events with nothing to show for their participation, making a no medal showing at the World 20 Athletics Championship in two consecutive editions.
