Nigeria’s Terem Moffi scored Lorient’s solitary goal in their 2-1 away loss to Bordeaux on Saturday night, Sports247 reports.
The 21-year-old striker who joined Lorient last summer from Belgian side Kortrijk was a livewire for his side throughout.
In the league encounter, Samuel Kalu made his first start for Bordeaux having returned from a month out with muscle injury last Wednesday(Jan 6).
Moffi equalised for Lorient in the 23rd minute with a headed goal after Remi Oudin had put Bordeaux in front earlier on.
The goal was Moffi’s third from his last three matches and fourth overall for the season.
Remi Oudin netted again for Bordeaux to make it 2-1 before the end of the first half in what proved to be the game’s winner.
Samuel Kalu was hooked at the hour mark for Yacine Adli. The winger had a decent game as he continues to gain match rhythm following his return. Fellow Nigerian, Josh Maja was a late sub.
Bordeaux moves up to 10th in the Ligue 1 table with 26 points from 19 games after the win.
Lorient meanwhile are languishing in the relegation zone. The newly-promoted side are 19th with 12 points from 19 games.
