Former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze, popularly known as “Man Wey Sabi,” has called on Nigerians to rally behind newly appointed Super Eagles coach Éric Sékou Chelle, emphasizing that his success is a collective victory for the nation.
In an interview with Sports247, Udeze urged fans and stakeholders to put aside doubts and focus on supporting the team’s journey to World Cup qualification.
“The coach has been appointed and unveiled,” Udeze said.
“Victor Osimhen and Wilfred Ndidi have both expressed their commitment to supporting the coach.
Osimhen said, ‘My job as a player is to play well and support our coach,’ while Ndidi added that winning games requires unity and support for the coach.
“I personally want to be at the World Cup, and for that to happen, we all need to back the coach.
This is not the time to debate his qualifications; we must unite, pray for his success, and support him fully, because if he succeeds, we all win.”
Udeze’s plea comes amidst ongoing debates about Chelle’s appointment.
While concerns about his credentials linger, the former Super Eagles defender believes that unity is key to securing Nigeria’s place on the global football stage.
As the team gears up for their next challenges, Udeze’s message resonates: it’s time to stand together and work toward a shared goal—making Nigeria proud again
