Following the failure of the Super Falcons to grab a bronze medal at the just concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, vice president of Nigeria Football Federation NFF Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has urged the football fans and media to exercise patience with the coach of women senior national team, Randy Waldrum.
Zambia beat nine-time Africa champions 1-0 in the third place match to win the bronze medal. With this Defeat, Nigerian football stakeholders called for the immediate sack of the American coach who suffered three defeats and managed three wins in the WAFCON.
Akinwunmi while speaking with Sports247 in Lagos said Nigerians should be patient with the Falcons Coach saying that NFF is waiting for a technical report from the American coach which would be studied by the technical department before it can pass to the board.
“At this moment, Nigerian fans, media, and other football stakeholders should exercise patience with the Falcons coach.NFF is waiting for the technical report from Waldrum to be submitted to the technical department and once we receive the report from the technical committee, we would come out with our decision but for now, let’s be patient with Waldrum,” said.
Akinwunmi who doubles as chairman of Lagos State Football Association commended Falcons for their effort at the just concluded WAFCON and noted that the coaching crew still needs to work on the team’s grey areas before the FIFA women’s world cup scheduled for next year.
