Glasgow Rangers of Scotland defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun has downplayed the severity and likely effects of a cheekbone injury he copped while in action for the Scottish Premiership side, and assured that it will not affect his future with the team.

Sports247 reports that Balogun is in his second stint at Ibrox, having returned to the Glasgow-based side in 2023, after initially being released two years earlier and he moved to Queens Park Rangers of England, but his second tenure has been much better.
Sadly, the former Darmstadt and SV Mainz of Germany centre back, who has also previously played for Wigan Athletic and Brighton of England, among other top clubs, got injured during his side’s 2-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao of Spain last week in the UEFA Europa League.
However, while some analysts are already inferring that Leon Balogun’s latest injury would fast-track his departure from The Gers, where his contract runs out at the end of this season, the 36-year-old star insists it’s not a serious setback.
Balogun disclosed, “I’ve fractured my cheekbone for the first time in my career. I’m injured again, but we’ll see how severe it is. Probably I’ll need a little surgery, a few days’ rest and then get back on the pitch.”
He also doused speculation that he is already thinking of leaving the club that also has Nigeria’s former Dutch Eredivisie top scorer, Cyriel Dessers in their squad, as he stressed how much he loves The Gers.
“I wanted to be a Rangers player for ten years and, since I stepped into the building, everybody knows how I love this club. I really embrace what the club stands for, and I really put them to heart. If they want, they could make me stay for another season,” Balogun conceded.
