Nigeria Pillar of Sports Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike has joined the global Football fraternity as they mourn world greatest football in history. Brazillian Edson Arante D Nascimento popularly known as Pele.
Reacting to the death of Pele at his office in Ilorin Friday, Chief Ejidike described the late Soccer Maestro as “Football Personified ” who used the round leather game as a global unifying factor.
He urged young Footballers to emulate Pele’s humility and discipline all through his career and beyond which earned him several International awards aside historical recognitions.
” Pele lived a life worthy of emulation, despite being the greatest soccer legend in the world, he exhibited high level of humility and discipline throughout his career and beyond “, he said.
” The younger generation of Footballers should look at his history on and off the pitch and borrow a leaf from there, because lived as a hero and died as a greater hero”, Ejidike advised.
Ejidike recalled with nostalgic feeling that Pele made his first World Cup appearance at the age of 17 years in 1958 where he scored a hat trick even as he reigned for half a century. That Pele was never involved in drug or any violent act which made first among the equals.
The Nigeria Pillar of sports prayed for the repose of his soul and for God to grant his immediate family, friends and the entire World Football fraternity the fortitude to bear the loss.
