Lebanese Community In Nigeria Thank President Buhari, Pledges Support For Amokachi

The Lebanese community in Nigeria have given credit to the President of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari for his yeoman’s job in leading Nigeria forward, his support to the Lebanese community in Nigeria, his vital role he played during the period Lebanon was battling with the unfortunate explosion that rocked the country’s capital, Beirut, and thank the president as well for appointing ex-international, Dan ‘the Bull’ Amokachi as his special adviser on sports.

It’s about three weeks ago when tragedy stroke in Lebanon living many homeless, some injured, and others died in what is tagged one of the world’s non-nuclear explosions ever. On 4 August 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the port of the city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, accidentally exploded, causing at least 180 deaths, 6,000 injuries, about 15 billion dollars in property damage, and leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless at the same time.

Speaking with sports247, the consul general of the Lebanese community in Nigeria, Mr. Elias Nicolas, says ‘the president has done what other presidents in the past could not do by putting sports in the fur front of his administration.’ This is the sequel to his appointing Daniel Amokachi special adviser on sports to the president. He also stressed that the Lebanese community are committed to his administration and he gives a very big thank you for the President’s support especially in the area of doing business with Nigeria.

Nicolas urges Amokachi to use his good office to influence and impact the youth of Nigeria so they can eschew crime. He goes further to say ‘ we the Lebanese community will rally round and support you and also we call on meaning Nigerians to do so as well. Stand up for Amokachi and stand up for the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Lebanese Community in Lagos, Mr. Faysal El-Khalil, noted that they are ready to more in appreciation for their country of choice, Nigeria, which has accepted them as citizens of the country. El Khalil stated that Nigeria has provided many opportunities to members of the Lebanese community which has helped them build a good and bright future for themselves and grandchildren.
