The League Followers of Nigeria received with rude shock one death two many of two gentlemen who lost their lives over the weekend. The news of untimely death of one of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Referees, *Mr Femi Okebukola* in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Kaduna on his way from Maiduguri and an astute Investigative journalist, Mr Jide Fashiku of an online news and This Day newspaper.
It’s a pity Femi leaves us this way. Very humble, loyal and hardworking. May his Gentle soul rest in perfect peace and for God Almighty to give all of us fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. It pains!!!

“We mourn the death of the two gentlemen and commiserate with their families, the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on this untimely deaths”.

Okebukola handled the Match Day 4 fixture between El-Kanemi Warriors and Nasarawa United on Thursday in Maiduguri.
Fashikun of online publication, the Gong News reportedly died after a brief illness.
Olajide Fashikun initiated the Nigeria Sports Development Fund to raise funds for athletes to prepare for 5 sports at the Olympics. He was an ex -international in handball and athletics and a stakeholder in all sports. Fashikun was a one-time Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Sports Editor of the Herald newspaper, Managing Editor of Gong News, a senior Sports correspondent at ThisDay and a former lecturer at Kwara Polytechnic.
He was aged 54
We therefore like to charge the two bodies as a matter of responsibility to evolve an insurance policy that would take care of members that lost their lives in the line of duty particularly the family they left behind. NANPF have progressively on upward mobility on this initiative and others should take a cue from them to assist their families
Hinged on the above, we would like to passionately appeal to the leadership of NRA led by *Alhaji Tade Azees Adegboyega* to visit the family of *Femi Okebukola* and assist in anyway they could to touch the lives of the children and wife Okebukola left behind while calling SWAN leadership led by *Honour Sirawoo* to replicate same to FASHIKUN’S family.
Thank you.
