One of the fast-rising players in Messiah Football Club of Ikeja, Toheeb Lawal has reacted to the invitation extended to him to join the Team Lagos football team ahead of the National Sports Festival zonal elimination.
Lawal who scored a superb goal to wreck Gbagada FC in a 2-0 pulsating tie at the recent nationwide league one NLO told Sports247 that he was glad when the Lagos FA invited him to the Team Lagos.
“I am happy for the call-up to the Team Lagos. It gives me joy and confidence. This is to tell you that my game is getting better. I am not going there to make numbers but to fight for the shirt and I am confident that I would make the final list at the end of the screening exercise,” he said.
Asked what qualified him to be invited to the national team, Lawal said his performance at the ongoing nationwide league one is superb boasting that his best is yet to come.
“I never dreamt I would be invited to the Team Lagos but all I can say is that I am good and better in the nationwide league. Presently I have hit my form and I wish I should continue in this direction,” he said.
Commenting on the recent performance of Messiah FC in the nationwide league one, Lawal said his colleagues are on top of their game boasting that their last match against Magic stars is must win for them.
He said after they beat Smart City, the team is on course to win their remaining matches
He however urged his colleagues to finish the league on a winning note.
Messiah won their last three matches and they are playing against Magic stars next Tuesday.
