Dubai-based Nigerian boxer, Aliu Bamidele Lasisi is giving thanks to everyone who backed him to glory in his recent quest for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Super Flyweight belt.
Sports247.ng reports that Lasisi has reeled out several people that he says motivated his title conquest, including his fans and well wishers across the world.
Lasisi admits he felt a huge relief, after he defeated Mchanja Yohana of Tanzania by unanimous decision to claim the WBC International Silver title at Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra, Ghana on Wednesday night.
The 10-round contest on Don’s Promotion’s eight Professional Boxing Championship cards tagged “The Battle of Titans” saw all three judges score the bout 98-92, 98-92, 99-91 in Lasisi’s favour.
It means Lasisi becomes the second Nigerian boxer to win a WBC silver title, after Olanrewaju Durodola won in the Cruiserweight category when he defeated Dmitry Kudryashov in 2015.
The 28-year-old Lasisi also climbed to 11 wins from 11 contests, with eight knockouts and three wins via unanimous decisions.
Lasisi admitted: “After the 10 rounds of my fight, I feel so excited, because I believe I won all my rounds.
“Yohana my opponent is very smart boxer, I just take my time and I always focus for what I am doing.
“I want to thank all Ghana fans that came out to give me full support. I want to thank all my fans over the world, for their great support and they are love.
“Thanks my gym in Dubai Round 10 Boxing Club and I want to thank my sponsors Top8 and Angelshrup, I love u them all.
“My appreciation to my camp in Ghana with head trainer Adama and assistant coach Rasak and others. I will continue to give my best no to disappoint them.”
