Landon, Son Of USA 94 Super Eagles’ Defender Signs First Professional Contract With Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC of London has signed Landon Emenalo, the son of Nigeria Defender at USA 94 FIFA World Cup, Sports247 reports

The player who clocks 17 years old this year, signed his first professional contract with his childhood club.

The news was confined by the club in a statement on the official website, alongside the picture of the player signing the dotted lines.

Landon is the son of former Nigeria international defender, Michael Emenalo, who starred for Nigeria at the 1994 FIFA World Cup hosted in the United States of America.

Emenalo was popular among the Nigeria football fans during his role as the dire toe of football at Chelsea FC before he moved to Monaco FC for the same role but he is presently the director of football of the Saudi Pro League which has attracted many players from Europe and Africa

His son Landon, joined Chelsea Under 8 level, but had to follow his Dad to Monaco before returning to join the Chelsea U-13 youth team, where he grew through the ranks.

He made his competitive debut for Chelsea U21 in a Premier League Cup in January 2024 against Colchester which Chelsea won by 4-1.

The midfielder has been impressive at the U18 level for Chelsea where he has a couple assists and goals to his name which warranted his first contract at Cohbams.

Landon Emenalo was born in 2008, in Arizona USA, he grew up in England and hence Eligible to play international football for Nigeria, England and USA.

Chelsea FC congratulates Landon on their official website and share a little profile of the player.

“This season he has featured regularly for our Under-18s, including starting the FA Youth Cup wins over Leicester City and Merstham, as well as in the Under-17 Premier League Cup.”
