The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has disclosed that Lagos Women Run as a platform promotes unity, peace,& meaningful community engagements to celebrate inspirational women & to adopt a heathy lifestyle.
He made the statement while addressing press at the final destination of the annual 10km race at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Lekan Fatodu explained that the annual long-distance race seeks to promote unity peace & show the energy, spirit of Lagos friendliness, & community of people who are ready to impact society in a more positive way.
Speaking further, Fatodu said the 9th edition speaks to the wonderful work put in place by the organisers and the state government would ensure productive, healthy and active citizens, as part of the mantra of the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
According to the Coordinator, Lagos Women Run, Ms.Tayo Popoola, hinted that the race is more of a general well-being of the populace, creating an enabling environment for women to network and feel the sense of belonging.
She said, “Lagos women must be fit, and for us to be physically and mentally stable, we must have a platform where we have to come together & celebrate ourselves. Lagos comes first. We have to build a lot of champions that will compete in other parts of the world, & the only platform that could do it is Lagos.
“Lagos is a state bringing people together to compete and building champions to represent the state & the country,” Popoola stated.
Joy Abiye David from NSCDC was crowned the champion in the open category with a time of 38:35:21. This made it her third time of winning the title.
Notable figures in the sports sector present at the event were: President, ATTF, Barr.Waheed Enitan Oshodi; COO, ATTF, Dr. Kweku Tandoh & Former Chairman, LSBA, Babs Ogunade.
Others are Director Public Affairs, Lagos State Sports Commission,Oshodi-Eko Titilayo ; Director Sports Development, Travih Nunayon; Director Sports Facilities, Deji Aladegbemi.
