Elizabeth Nuhu placed 3rd in the 4th edition of the Lagos Women Run, a graduate of the College of Education Quanga, Nassarawa State showed sportsmanship and enthusiasm despite falling behind her colleague Deborah Pam and eventual winner, Cheptoeck Careen from Kenya.
Despite being awarded with the prize of the 3rd placed, Nuhu didn’t hide her frustrations on the organizers of the program after she made some allegations on the race officials in their lack of enough communication guiding the race to the athletes.
‘’I am an athlete and am happy for Careen, but the competition states that it’s for Nigerians, why allow a Kenyan to participate in this’’, she lamented.
‘’I just bagged my NCE degree, there’s more to my life, back in those days, men are in charge of the homes but now women are also taking charge’’, she quietly said.
‘’I have international competitions coming up, I need to clear my head up, get up this performance, take the positives and prepare harder than I did for this and see what’s next from there’’.
‘’I have other plans, I will move on from this and prepare for that which is ahead’’, Nuhu concluded.
This year’s edition of the Lagos Women Run rewarded the 4th to 1oth position with 100,000 thousand Naira cash prize each, second with 500,000 thousand Naira and 1st with a sum of 750,000 Naira.
