Lagos teams, Seasiders Boys and Tojemarine Academy won their matches in dramatic fashion on match day of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2021.
In the Men Category, Lagos Seasiders Boys defeated De Defenders at the dead of time 22-21 as their goalkeeper saved a last minute seven metre shot while Tojemarine Academy, making their debut in the league, got off to a winning start, howbeit in a dramatic fashion as they scored a goal at the last seconds of the match to defeat a formidable Rima Strikers of Sokoto 24-23.
Other results in the Men Category, defending champions Safety Shooters defeated Plateau Vipers 22-18 while former champion Niger United comfortably defeated debutant Police Machine 30-16 while 2019 champion saw off a determined Confluence Stars of Kogi side 29-26.
In the women category, defending champion, Adorable Angels clipped the wings of Seasiders Babes of Lagos with a resounding 41-28 victory while former champion Safety Babes defeated Kada Queens 24-17.
Experienced Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri motivated by the Imo State commissioner for sports, who was on ground to watch them, defeated debutant Bayelsa Queens 36-26 while Defender Babes defeated Plateau Peacocks 27-20.
