Afolayan Kamaldeen and Jude Ebube emerged winners in both boys and girls categories at the final day of the three day Table Tennis Clinic and Mini Championship organized by the Lagos State Table Tennis Association in collaboration with Ojez Entertainment.
Other winners in the boys categories are, Akinfemiwa Idris 2nd position while Adou Samuel and Adesina Sulaimon placed joint 3rd position.
In the girls categories, Ake Titilayo placed second oosition and Abdulraman Arafat and Saidi Bilikis claimed joint third position.
During the 3 day clinic, participants selected from Education District 3 in Lagos State were taken through the rudiments of table tennis by seasoned coaches.
According to the Chairman of Lagos State Table Tennis Association, Architect Femi Shokoya, the present board aspires to take the clinic round the 6 Education Districts in Lagos State with the aim of gaining the interest of the youth in the sport, nurture talents, so that ultimately within the next 4 years, a young team that would be champions in the junior category will have been groomed.
Speaking during the final day of the Clinic, the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar commended the Board of Lagos State Table Tennis Association and the Sponsor Ojez Entertainment for the initiative.
According to the Director General, “This is in line with one of the mandates given by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to Lagos State Sports Commission for the grassroots sports development in Lagos State. ”
He however disclosed that Lagos State Sports Commission is always ready to support the 42 sports associations under its supervision to succeed in taking sports to the grassroots most especially in schools, both public and private.
Winners of the Mini Competition were given prizes ranging from Flat Screen Television Sets, Rechargeable Fans and Pressing Iron while all participants were given Rackets and Balls.
