Lagos State’s handball team barely managed to survive a shock defeat by Ondo State in the south-west zonal qualifiers for this year’s National Sports Festival in Abuja, and the captain, Ahmed Dikko admits it was a close shave.
Dikko confessed in a chat with sports247.ng that it was a tough test for his team, as they faced early elimination by a team he admitted were stronger physically than his own players.
Dikko added: “It was a narrow escape for us against the team from Ondo State. The players in their team were physically better than us, but our coach saved the day for us with the instructions he gave during the game.
“At a point it appeared we had already lost this match, our coach turned everything around with the way he shouted instructions to us and changed the tactics that put the game in our favour and we eventually won the game.”
