The competition got underway with frenzy in midweek at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, with more than 10 clubs locking horns.

Although Uzondu had been involved in a Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match with his club a day before his team’s fixture, the youngster said he still tried to give his best.

Uzondu added in a chat with sports247.ng, “Concerning my performance in this match, I was not that free and agile because of the league match we had the day before.

“I was kind of a bit slow, and I was still struggling with myself … ’cause I did not have enough rest.

“It was tough, but I was still able to do well. I did well to an extent.”

He then spoke about what he and other participants aim to gain from featuring in the contest, which many fans have tagged as a ‘Scouting Competition.”

Uzondo proceeded, “With the past experience of this competition, I’ve heard about it, and I know that they’ve been doing well.

“Some transfers have been happening through this competition, and I’m expecting more of that this year.

“I am also wishing anyone that is selected here all the very best for their careers.”
Harrison Austin will now turn his focus fully on battles at Onikan Waterfront, as his team aim for the trophy.

They will, however, first have to outwit top sides like Beyond Limit of Ikenne, Broad FC of Nasarawa and 36 Lion FC of Lagos.
