Lagos State Teams Ready For NLO Zonal Qualifiers After Intense Super 5 Tournament

The Super 5 tournament organised by the Lagos State Football Association, to determine the eventual winner and representatives of Lagos State at the NLO 2 Under 19 Zonal qualifiers, was successfully concluded Tuesday, in Lagos, at the Mainbow of the National Stadium, Surulere.

Five teams namely, Okaka FC(LDFA), Adosag FC (Ikorodu DFA), Young Stars (BDFA),  FC Bucknor( Ikeja) and Ighalo FA( Epe) representing the five divisions, competed for the two tickets in a round-robin league format.

The winner and runners-up of the very tight, competitive and intense tournament were decided on the last day, as Okaka FC rallied back to claw to the reckoning courtesy of a 1-0 win over Young Stars.

Earlier in the day, Ighalo FA defeated Adosag FC 2-1 to tie with Young Stars, who also had 6 points, but with a better goal difference.

Lagos FA Chairman Hajji Gafar Liameed, who witnessed the final day matches, expressed his satisfaction with the performances of the teams and the levels of discipline exhibited during the games.

He also commended members of the organising committee led by the CEO of the State League, Wale Joseph, ably supported by the COO of the league, Musbau Oseni, as well as, other members for their handwork and commitment to the successful conclusion of the 2023/2024 Lagos State Football League.

Hajj Liameed advised the two teams representing the state to be good ambassadors of the State and to show the new mantra and fervour in Lagos State, of doing football business, according to global best practices.

He added that Lagos FA will continue to encourage and support the football teams in the state, at all times.

The CEO of the State League, Wale Joseph, thanked the Chairman and members of the board of the LSFA for their trust in him and his committee, to deliver on the football mandate.

He also commended all the State Divisional Football Associations and the participants for their belief, cooperation and support that ensured the successful conclusion of the league, despite the short period and of course, challenges, therein.
