The event will take place from 7 am to 10 am at the renowned Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, targeting young boys and girls with an array of exciting activities.

The first segment of the day, the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, is a collaboration between LSFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Scheduled from 7 am to 7 pm, this part of the fiesta will feature notable mentors including NFF Technical Director Austin Eguavoen and Scheme Director Nasiru Jibril.

This initiative aims to scout and nurture football talent from a young age, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in the sport.

Following the talent development scheme, the focus will shift to the female players with an event specifically tailored for them, titled ‘It’s Time For Girls.’ This programme is designed to offer a comprehensive platform for female players, coaches, and referees to enhance their skills, exchange experiences, and connect with professionals in the football industry. The day will include a mini-tournament for girls aged 6 to 17, alongside training sessions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.

According to a statement from the Lagos, the Lagos State Football Association, the event is part of a broader initiative to champion gender equality and support the growth of female football. Mrs. Raliat Abdulsalam, Chairman of the Female Football Development Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the programme: “We’re committed to creating opportunities for women and girls to succeed in football. This program is just the beginning of our efforts to foster a supportive community and promote female participation in the sport.”

Austin Eguavoen and Nasiru Jibril are expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday and stay through the weekend to oversee the events, marking an important milestone in the development of football in the state.

The ‘Saturday Football Fiesta’ promises to be a landmark event, reflecting Lagos State Football Association’s dedication to advancing the sport for both young and female players.
