Lagos State commissioner for youth and social development, Honourable Bolaji Ogunlende has promised to give out a special gift to the best overall student at this year’s leadership camp of Rotary Club.
Sports247.ng reports that Honourable Ogunlende made the pledge while speaking as special guest during the opening ceremony of the maiden Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA 2024) of District 9112, which is taking place at Sea School, Apapa, Lagos.
He expressed delight with his presence in his personal garb and as the representative of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was unavoidably absent.
The youthful commissioner also used the opportunity to advise the academy attendees, now fondly referred to as RYLArians, and stressed that they must pick several positives to take back home from the camp.
Ogunlende declared: “I want to give the best RYLArian a gift. The best RYLArian will have an option of choosing between a laptop and a mobile phone.
“Coming here is not just about having fun. You have to pay attention to everything that’s going on.
” They will set the criteria, you pay attention, maintain discipline, and show your punctuality. Show your quality,
your ability to articulate yourself confidently, and express all the attributes you have as a RYLArian
“All of that will be graded, and the best person should come to my office and collect the gift.
“I look forward to seeing that person, and I wish you all happy deliberations over the next seven days.
“Of course, you are going to have a lot of fun. A lot of dancing and all sorts of things; but, ultimately, the best of it all is for you to go back as a different person.”
He also used the opportunity to introduce some projects, innovations and platforms that Lagos State government has introduced to make living easier for students and youths.
