Senior special adviser on Sports to Lagos state Governor, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has helped to follow up on what the police have done in terms of restoring full normalcy at the Surulere area, over protesting athletes.
The Area C of the Nigerian police, made sure the crowd was put under control by dispersing the protesters with tear gases to move them from the road, which they did, and the SSA was able to further calm the situation, with the assistance of the Surulere local government chairman, Yusuf Sulaiman further brought the aggrieved protesters to calm by addressing them.
Lagos special athletes were protesting their noninvolvement in the coming national sports festival, taking place in Asaba, Delta state.
The protesting athletes were bitterly aggrieved that they are not going to be part of the national festival, and they made sure the surulere and its environs were at a standstill, causing heavy traffic gridlock.
But, after the police has done their bit in quelling the situation, the ever-hard-working, and reliable SSA, made sure things fully returned to normalcy after the police have done their bit in making sure the protesters were put under control.
Furthermore, Adeboye, with the assistance of the Surulere local chairman, honorable Sulaiman Yusuf, made sure the arrested protesters, were released from the police station and those with injuries were taken to hospital for treatment.
Adeboye, who spoke to the athletes in front of the national stadium, after the situation was fully under control, told the athletes, that they should be calm and not take laws into their hands, that Lagos sports loving governor and the minister of sports, will see into their case and promised that, all their demands will be looked into, and by the special grace of God, they will get positive results.
