The Director General, of Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has assured Ikorodu City Football Club of total support following their promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

During a courtesy visit by the Ikorodu City FC management to his office at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Fatodu provided the guarantee while applauding the accomplishments of the recently promoted team.
In addition to expressing gratitude for the award the team gave him, Fatodu said the squad would receive an official invitation to discuss how to move forward and continue to compete in the Nigerian top league to increase their success.
Fatodu commended the leadership of the club on professionalism, promising that he will consistently track the progress of the team when they begin their campaign in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Chairman of Ikorodu City FC, Sanmi Doherty applauded the Director General for allowing the team free access to the facilities and appealed to him for more support, to grow the club and maintain their league status.
Doherty also promised the Director General that the team will bring Continental football to Lagos State with the backing of the Lagos State Government and support of the Lagos State Sports Commission.
The Lagos-based team has secured its promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight league, having demonstrated a remarkable performance at the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) to join other top-ranking clubs next summer.
Magic Stars FC and First Bank FC, another two teams based in Lagos will also ply their trade in the Nigeria Nationwide League NNL, following their dominance in the Nationwide League One (NLO).
