The organizer of the ongoing U-16 Emeka Anyaoku football competition has concluded plans to organize a successful closing ceremony scheduled to hold on Sunday in Lagos at the FIFA Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium.
The final would be played between Strike Force FC of Enugu State against Cargo Boys from Oyo State.
Match coordinator, Ganiu Ajibola confirmed that they have put necessary things in place to stage a successful final ceremony and urged the football fans to comport themselves in an orderly manner throughout the closing ceremony.
“We are ready to organize hitch-free finals. The finalists are in Lagos preparing for the Sunday game and I thank the cup donor, Chief Anyaoku for his commitment to the football development in Nigeria. This is the man that used his resources to put smiles on the faces of thousands of young players in the country and I pray for his good health and long life and prosperity” he said.
Cup donor and former secretary of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku reinstated his commitment to empower the youth and support the next generation of football stars.
Anyaoku said government at all levels must make conscious efforts to develop sports at the grassroots through age-grade competitions.
While promising to reward the finalists and outstanding individual players, Chief Anyaoku revealed plans to sustain the tournament through an endowment fund to enable the organizers to hold the competition annually.
