When you speak about hosting competitions continentally, you think of Nigeria. When you think of Nigeria, you think of Lagos.”

Gafaar highlighted Lagos’s readiness to contribute to the growth and development of sports, aligning with the state governor’s agenda. He revealed ongoing efforts to enhance sports facilities, starting with the development of a new volleyball setting.
Oluwatoyin Gafaar expressed his anticipation for expanding these improvements to various sports in the near future.
“I’m not surprised that we’ve been developing this particular volleyball setting for a very long time in Lagos. Since we returned from the COVID-19 break, we introduced it to directors to see. And very soon we are also moving to other sports,” Gafaar explained, emphasizing the comprehensive approach to sports development in the region.
Providing insights into the broader vision for sports infrastructure, Gafaar revealed ambitious plans for twelve standard stadiums in Lagos by the end of October. These stadiums, he explained, would accommodate various sports, offering a platform for over 20,000 athletes daily. Gafaar underscored the significance of this development, envisioning a robust engagement of athletes and positioning Lagos as the true home of sports.
“As the home of sports, even if we look at the supply of the number of players in the national camp, Lagos is having the highest just coming back from Para games,” Gafaar proudly stated, highlighting the impact of Lagos on national sports talent.
