Despite this setback, they managed to field a team comprised of young players and newcomers, kicking off their NLO campaign.

Transitioning from previous seasons in Benue State to Lagos State, Coach Kayode noted the change in environment and level of competition.

He highlighted the seriousness and modern style of football played by teams in Lagos, emphasizing the commitment and determination of players, regardless of their size or experience.

“In Lagos State, the teams are very serious in playing football. Unlike in other places where you see teams playing casually.

They play a modern style of football and the players, no matter how small they are, when given the opportunity, they make use of it with all seriousness.”

Discussing the varying challenges faced against different opponents, Coach Kayode highlighted the adaptability and resilience required when playing against more experienced teams.

He commended grassroots coaches for their dedication and acknowledged the role of the NLO in nurturing talent and providing opportunities for players to showcase their abilities on a bigger stage.

Reflecting on the lessons learned from the season, Coach Abdulrahaman Kayode praised the football culture in Lagos State, emphasizing the commitment and drive of players, who often sacrifice time and comfort for their passion for the sport.

“The lesson I learned is that Lagos is the home of football and I like the drive and I also like the zeal from everywhere because you see players waking up as early as 3:30 to 4:00 am to get to their training grounds.”

He expressed admiration for Lagos’s football ethos and pledged to carry the lessons learned into future endeavors, remaining inspired by the dedication witnessed throughout the season.

“I really love Lagos State’s way of playing football most especially and its going to keep me on my toes wherever I go because I had a very good experience.”

Coach Kayode’s reflections underscored the invaluable experiences gained by Mavlon FC during their NLO journey, highlighting the importance of adaptability, resilience, and dedication in the pursuit of football excellence.
