The organizers of the Lagos International Polo Tournament have assured fans of an exceptional event as the 120th edition, named the 2024NPA/GTCO Lagos International Polo Tournament, commences.
With a record-breaking 39 teams participating, the tournament features top players from around the world, setting the stage for intense competition.

The event, starting today, showcases teams armed with foreign professionals and top-tier Argentine horses, vying for honors in four major cup categories: The Open Cup, The Majekodunmi Cup, The Lagos Low Cup, and the Silver Cup.
In a historic move, this glamorous polo festival spans four weeks of action-packed matches, with five equally-matched teams contending for the Open Cup glory until January 28.
Bode Makanjuola, commenting on the tournament, expressed the club’s commitment to making the 120th edition truly special.
Polo Captain Muyiwa Oni highlighted the significance of the Majekodunmi Cup, which will take center stage from January 30 to February 4, featuring teams from Lagos and Abuja.
The third week, scheduled from February 6 to 11, will witness 16 teams from major polo centers across the country competing for the Low Cup.
The final week promises an exciting climax, as 14 evenly matched low-goal teams compete for the Silver Cup from February 13 to 18, marking the culmination of Africa’s richest polo extravaganza.
Tournament Manager Olumayowa Ogunnusi commended main sponsor GTCO and other supporters, expressing the Lagos Polo Club’s dedication to delivering value to sponsors, players, special guests, and polo enthusiasts during the event.
Numerous subsidiary prizes, including the Oba of Lagos Cup, Adedapo Ojora Memorial Cup, Sani Dangote Memorial Cup, Italian Ambassador’s Cup, Independence Cup, Lagos He, and the Chief of Naval Cup, among others, add to the excitement of the festival.
