Members of the Ikeja Football Coaches Council have expressed their unalloyed support to their leader, David Oluwasegun Dosu who is contesting for the chairmanship seat in the forthcoming Lagos State Football Coaches Association elections.
This support came when Dosu officially announced his intention to fight for the position of chairmanship seat in Lagos State Football Coaches Association to council members last Saturday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Some of the council members who spoke to our correspondent described Dosu as a disciplined coach who can take the state association to the next level.
Secretary of Ikeja Football Coaches Council, Babatunde Adeshina described Dosu as a man of integrity saying that if he is elected, there would be positive changes in the association.
“Our leader has officially announced to the council members his intention to contest for chairmanship seat in the forthcoming Lagos State Football Coaches Association and I am happy that the man who understands and is ready to listen to the plight of coaches comes from our council and we are ready to give him our total support,” he said.
In his own comment, assistant coach of Vandrezzer FC, Yemi Olanrewaju said Dosu has paid his dues in coaching and his time has come to become the next chairman of the association.
Olanrewaju said somebody who had played the game to the national level is deserved to steer the affairs of the association.
While coach Taiwo Oluwadamilare of Legend Stars FC said the candidature of Dosu is a welcome development noted that all the council members would go to various councils in the state to mobilize for him.
He however urged his colleagues in the coaching profession to massively vote for Dosu who knows the challenges facing coaches in the state.
Addressing the journalists earlier, Dosu said his coming out is to rescue his colleagues from the challenges facing them saying that if they can vote for him, he would institute welfare programmes that would take care of the need of the coaches in the state.
The Ikeja council leader said he had already started his campaign tour and was happy with the support received from his colleagues in various councils.
“I have offered myself as a servant leader to all my colleagues. I share their pains and I heard their cries and the time has come to put smiles on their faces if they can give their total support to me. If I am elected, I would ensure that all affiliated coaches’ welfares would be taken care of before any other things because I am a trained coach and I have played the game to the highest level. As a coach I am not happy with the condition of some of my colleagues so if I am elected, all their challenges would be resolved with immediate effect and implement other programmes we have for them,” he concluded.
