In a statement by Hajji Gafar Liameed, the Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, the Lagos FA lamented the rude shock of the news of the former Chairman of Lagos State Football Referees Council and Vice-Chairman of Lagos FA, and also a two-term President of Nigeria Football Referees(NRA).

Describing the death as a huge loss to Nigerian football, Hajji Liameed recalled with nostalgia the several game-changing moments with the late experienced football administrator. He particularly recalled his last meeting with the deceased which happened few days to the death.

“Just a few days ago, we exchanged that same comforting glance and then we both prayed. And then we held on to ourselves very tight. And then a tear rolled down my face,” Hajji Liameed recalled in an emotion laden tone.

“And then we both pondered how come? And then we both smiled again.

“And today he’s gone and now I’m mourning in solitary.

“Indeed, a legend has departed. And I pray may God rest him and grant him paradise,” he prayed.

In furtherance of the respect for the departed soul, the LSFA, has therefore declared an 8 days, one minute silence, during all football matches, from the grassroots to the elite level in Lagos State
