In a candid interview with Sports 247, Fatai began by acknowledging the significance of this tournament, emphasizing its role as a crucial preparation for the upcoming league. He recognized that both teams displayed commendable skills throughout the match but pointed out a critical error that led to conceding a goal in the 58th minute.

“It’s in the game,” Fatai commented on the defensive mistake. He acknowledged the need for his team to work harder to rectify such errors and enhance their overall performance. The tournament, he stressed, serves as a valuable platform to evaluate the fitness, mental resilience, and adaptability of his players in competitive scenarios.

When questioned about his assessment of his players’ performance, Fatai affirmed their efforts. He acknowledged that they had opportunities to score but were unable to convert them into goals. This missed opportunity, coupled with the defensive error, ultimately impacted the team’s outcome. Fatai recognized the need for further improvement and a focus on refining their execution in critical moments.

He highlighted the importance of learning from these mistakes and evolving as a team. In particular, he identified the need to address the defensive lapses that led to the late-game goal against his team.

“It was a mistake,” he admitted, “It happens in the game. If there were no mistakes, no team would ever win. We are actively working to ensure that such errors do not recur. It was a regrettable goal, occurring just three minutes before the end of the game, and it had a significant impact due to defensive breakdowns. We have analyzed the situation and are focused on improving our defensive arrangements to avoid a similar outcome.”

Coach Bashiru Fatai’s commitment to learning from their performance and strengthening Dannaz FC’s capabilities shines through, highlighting the dedication required for success in competitive football.
