It was untold jubilation by members of the Lagos State Football Community at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, venue of the Lagos State Football Association Elective Congress, in celebration of the new board that was elected to lead football in the state for the next fours years.
The election saw Hon. Fouad Alade Oki, emerging as the new FA Chairman as he claimed a landslide win of 13-1 votes to defeat the former FA Vice-Chairman, Tade Azeez. It was another wide margin victory for Gafar Liameed, who defeated Dotun Coker, 10-4 to become the Vice-Chairman of the FA.
In a show of sportsmanship, the newly elected FA Chairman Hon. Fouad Oki declared that his election is a victory for football in the state. As he promised an inclusive leadership for the betterment of football.
Gafar Liameed thanked the stakeholders, delegates and the football community for the peaceful elections, even as he promised to contribute his best for the benefits and development of football in Lagos state.
Also speaking at the venue of the elections, a prominent member of the Lagos State Football Stakeholders, Waidi Akanni, expressed his joy and happiness on the outcome of the elections, which he claims would usher in a new and progressive dawn for football in the state.
“We’re indeed, happy over the outcome of the elective congress, which is an indication that football in Lagos State is set to regain its past glory and of course, its pride of place in the Nigerian football community,” Akanni, a former Lagos FA Chairman and Nigeria ex-international enthused confidently.
He rallied all football stakeholders and investors in the state football give their supports to the new board, for the benefits of football in the state and millions of the restive youths in the state.
