Coach of Bucknor Football Club of Alimosho, Soleye Olaide has commended his players following their 0-2 defeat against Future Pro in the round of 32 of the Lagos State Challenge Cup.
Reacting to the team’s loss, Soneye said he is proud of his players despite the defeat saying that poor finishing cost the team’s ouster from the tournament.
“My players played well despite the defeat, We created more scoring chances, especially in the first half but we did not take our chances which cost us defeat. If we look at the general performance of the team so far in the Lagos FA Cup, I can say my players did well. We surpassed last year’s achievement and we would go back home and prepare for Ikeja Super League,” he said
The team manager of Bucknor, Habeeb Adebowale Abidemi frowned over the team’s defeat and blamed the players for not taking their chances.
“My plan is to see my team in the round of 16 or quarter-final but unfortunately we lost a match that we did not deserve to lose. If you look at the team’s performance generally, the players did well but very painful to crash out at this stage,” he said.
Meanwhile, the round of 16 would be played on Saturday and Sunday at the Onikan stadium.
In a fixture released by the organizers, four matches would be played on Saturday. Ikorodu City face Divine Praise, Box 2 Box tackle Tradesafe Sports, while Real Sapphire confronts Smarte city feeders as Future Pro battle Young Stars.
