One of the matches that would draw attention of football fans in the third round of Lagos State Challenge Cup is a match between Messiah Football Club and Collins Edwin sports Club.
Both teams would meet on Wednesday by 11am at the maracana stadium, Ajegunle, Lagos.
A win for either team would guarantee them a place in the round of 16 in the biggest annual football competition in the state.
The two teams have met in several times in the past both in NLO and state FA Cup and their match always tough to the extent that it generates tension and passion among their football fans.
Ahead of Wednesday encounter both managers of the teams have been talking tough as the match is the talk of the town in the state.
Ugwu Jay Uche, general manager of Collins Edwin admitted that the match would be tough for both teams but remained confident that his boys would come out triumph.
“We are planning to win.We know the challenges ahead and we have prepared for our opponents.Like i said before we are in this competition to win so with God on our side, we shall win,” he said.
Asked if their match against Messiah would be difficult for his boys, Uche quickly said their match against Messiah always tough but promised that his boys would deliver when it mattered most.
“Anytime we play Messiah,it is always a tough game.The fans would enjoy good football.I respect Messiah, they are a good side, played in Jagaban Cup final recently but i am sure of victory against them comes on Wednesday,”he said.
In his own comment, Messiah team manager, Deji Beecroft expressed confidence that his boys would come out in flying colour.
He explained that his team fear no team and warned their opponents to prepare for war.He further said their target is to go far in the tournament noting that anything short of victory on Wednesday would be a huge disappoinment to the management and their fans.
“Sunday, we are not afraid of any team.We are in the competition for a purpose and i don’t want to join issue with any team for now.All i can say is that the boys are in best form of their lives and they are ready for their opponents on Wednesday.I pray for them and wish them all the best in their next match,”he said.
Meanwhile Joy Cometh FC battle Sporting FC the same venue by 9am.
