Lagos Athletes Charged For Excellence At 8th National Youth Games – Fatodu

Lekan Fatodu, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, expressed immense pride and confidence in the Lagos contingent as they embarked on their journey to the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Sports247 reports.

Following their dominant performance at the Zonal Elimination Ball Games in Osogbo, Fatodu believes that Team Lagos is ready to make a mark in the upcoming competition, which will see them compete in over 20 sports.

Addressing the athletes before their departure, Fatodu emphasized the significance of the Games, not just for the participants but also for Lagos as a state.

“Our state is renowned for nurturing and producing top-tier talents. We have the infrastructure, expertise, and support system to ensure that our athletes are given every opportunity to excel,” he said.

He encouraged the athletes to maintain focus, perseverance, and integrity throughout the competition. “Sports is not just about winning medals, but also about the discipline, dedication, and the sportsmanship you demonstrate along the way. Lagos athletes are a reflection of our state’s values—resilience, patriotism, and hard work.”

Fatodu’s message highlighted the importance of youth sports development and Lagos’s role in providing the necessary foundation for young athletes to thrive. “Lagos is a place where the grass is greener for talents.

With world-class sports infrastructure and an environment conducive for growth, we’ve consistently harvested the best talents across Nigeria. These youngsters have been well-prepared, and I have no doubt they will shine brightly in Asaba.”

With Lagos securing qualifications in sports ranging from basketball to traditional games like ayo and kokowa, Fatodu expressed optimism that this team would continue the state’s legacy of excellence.

He concluded by reinforcing the importance of camaraderie, fair play, and pride in representing Lagos at the National Youth Games.
