In a strong start to the LAB Memorial Football Tournament 2024, Rechabite FC stormed to a 4-1 victory against Hempel F.A. The team’s player, Okoro Jonah, was brimming with pride and satisfaction at the result.
Jonah attributed the victory to the team’s rigorous preparation and positive mindset. “We prepared so much for this competition. So the 4-1 showed that we came out positive, we came to play with a positive mindset and the victory gave us an edge and gave us a determination to come to the next stage,” he said.
Reflecting on their journey, Jonah shared that the team had reached the semi-finals in the previous year’s competition. However, this year, they are hopeful of making it to the final. “We left in the semi-final of the tournament but we hope we’ll get to the final this time for this year,” he stated.
Despite the win, Okoro Jonah acknowledged that there were areas for improvement. “Yes, I think we have some lapses which lead to the 1-0. So we have to work on our lapses and also improve. We’ll go watch the goals on YouTube, we’ll watch the match, look for our lapses, correct them and on Saturday we will play better,” he said.
This is the third time Rechabite FC is participating in the tournament, and Jonah believes there has been significant improvement since they started. “Yes, the developments, the competition moved from where it was and I believe that it’s a big improvement and we hope that next year will be better,” he confidently stated.
With such a strong start and a determined player like Jonah, Rechabite FC is certainly a team to watch in this year’s LAB Memorial Football Tournament.
