Last season, Melody Football Club had defeated Collins Edwin in the opening match of the second edition of the tournament, a game decided on penalties and marred by inclement weather. However, this time around, Collins Edwin turned the tables.
With the field open and conditions favorable, Collins Edwin put on a stellar performance, scoring two goals to secure a victory over the defending champions. This win has propelled them into the quarterfinals of the competition, marking a significant milestone for the team.
Nwankwo Abraham Ndubuisi, a striker for Collins Edwin Sport, shared his thoughts on the match in a post-game interview with Sports 247. “This game was very good. Like, we played well. We played them and we deserved the win. We played a teamwork game and we deserve the win,” he said.
When asked about his team’s target in the competition following this victory, Ndubuisi was clear about their ambitions. “I think the trophy. I think the trophy, because we are doing well. We have young players that have energy to be in the final and carry the trophy,” he stated.
