In the ongoing LAB Memorial Football Competition 2024, Hempel F.A faced a challenging start, suffering a 4-1 defeat against Rechabite FC. Despite the loss, the team remains hopeful and determined to improve in their future games.
The team’s player, Abebola Hassan, acknowledged that their defence line was a significant factor in their defeat. “Our defence line was kind of bad. The players put in more effort. We tried, but our defence line was no more composed,” Hassan said. However, scoring one goal against the dominant Rechabite FC gave them a glimmer of hope. “Yeah, it kind of gave us more. We thought we were going to come back, but at the end of the day, they scored us another game and our hope was down.”
Looking forward, the team plans to focus on strengthening their defence line. “Our defence line. That’s our defence line, we have to work more on our defence line, and it’s up to the coach when we get home,” Hassan added.
This is the first time Hempel F.A is participating in the LAB Memorial Football Competition, and despite the initial setback, the team had positive remarks about the tournament. “Yeah, it’s kind of okay. I’ve never been to a tournament like this,” Hassan said, appreciating the organisation and amenities provided.
Looking ahead, Hempel F.A is eager to participate in the next edition of the tournament. “Yes,” Hassan confirmed when asked about their participation next year. With this spirit and determination, Hempel F.A is set to learn from their experiences and come back stronger in the next edition of the LAB Memorial Football Competition.
