In the junior 100 metres race at the LAB Memorial Athletic Maiden Edition, Umar Balogun demonstrated a spirit of determination and resilience.

Balogun entered the competition with high expectations, aiming to secure one of the top three positions.
“My expectations were to come first or second or to be among the first three,” he shared. However, the race did not go as planned, and Balogun found himself crossing the finish line last.
Despite the disappointment, Balogun chose to view his experience as a valuable lesson rather than a defeat.
“I am disappointed to have come last in the race,” he admitted, but added, “I should work harder towards success.”
Balogun’s experience at the competition has left him with insights that he wishes to share with other aspiring athletes.
“They need to work harder to become athletes, and you have to be committed to what you’re doing.
Because if you want to be an athlete, like I said, you have to work hard and then you have to believe in yourself. So that next time you’re going to come first,” he advised.
